Grades are divided into two categories, Kyu Grades and Dan Grades. All grade are associated with a colour and a numeric value.

Kyu grades have different coloured belts for each grade.

Before a student can take a grading, they must achieve the required skill standard and have a minimum number of training attendances between grades.

All dan grades wear a black belt with a number of associated gold tabs, depending on their grade.

All Dan grades must hold a current first aid certificate

Dan graded students also hold ranks: -

  • 1st Dans hold the rank of - JUNIOR INSTRUCTORS
  • 2nd Dans hold the rank of - CLUB INSTRUCTOR
  • 3rd Dan and above _ SENIOR INSTRUCTOR Dan grade can also be awarded to individuals who have trained for many years and who have given their time and effort to the development of Martial Arts and to the club.
