The Club Badge

The badge is in keeping with the clubs ideals and goals. At the Hurst Karate club we have always tried to encourage students to seek knowledge, ask questions and use their newfound wisdom not just in the dojo, but also in every day life. We have also tried to encompass this spirit within our badge.
In the centre of the badge is the symbol of the Yin and Yang. This represents the delicate balance between all things i.e. Light and Dark, Strong and Weak, Internal and External etc. We can also see from this symbol that there is always a little bit of one side in the other and vice versa. In our badge this symbol represents us at the centre of our world, our internal and external struggle, our hard and soft techniques and the calm and the storm.
The horizontal circle represents our own personal circle in which we move and fight. It is divided into equal sections to represent the many directions in which we must travel in order to find our way or apply our fighting techniques. The two angled circles represent the balance we must apply in all that we do. They also represent the sphere in which we control our opponents.
